Abhaken stores your tasks on your device. There is no account, no sign-in and no server that knows your tasks. Whatever you enter, photograph, record or tick off does not leave your device.
One exception concerns not your content but the app itself: for the purchase of Abhaken Pro and to count how many people use the app, the app reports a random device identifier to our service provider RevenueCat (section 3). This policy explains in more detail what that means — and what applies to the web version in the browser (section 4).

Abhaken keeps the following data exclusively locally on your device (in the app's storage, technically localStorage):
recurrence rules
for it
Photos are kept separately in their own storage on the same device (technically IndexedDB), because a single image is larger than all the other data combined:
These photos are stored permanently on your device until you remove them yourself or delete the app. They are stored in reduced size and do not leave the device. The export as a file contains your tasks and lists, but no images — back them up yourself if needed.
You can record a voice memo for a task. Like the photos, the recording is kept in its own storage on your device and does not leave it; the export as a file contains no voice memos. On the iPhone, the app transcribes the memo on the device (Apple's speech recognition, without a server) and suggests the text as a title — if the German language pack is missing, the memo simply remains audio. On Android, no transcription takes place. The microphone is only on while the recording is running.
When you take a photo, the app reads the text in it in order to suggest a title and a deadline. This happens on the device through the operating system (Vision on iOS, ML Kit on Android). The image is not transmitted for this purpose. There is no text recognition in the browser.
Your tasks, lists, photos, voice memos and the recognised text stay on your device. They are not transmitted to us or to third parties, not backed up to a cloud, not analysed and not shared. There is no advertising.
We have no access to this data at any time. What the app reports for purchases and usage counting — a random device identifier and technical information, never your content — is described in section 3.
When you delete the app, the data is gone — completely and without us having to do anything, or being able to. You delete individual tasks, photos and lists in the app.
Conversely, this also means: there is no backup copy with us. If you lose your device, the tasks are lost. For this case, the app offers an export as a file under “More”, which you can keep yourself.
| Permission | Purpose | What happens to the data |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Take a photo that becomes a task, attach a photo, take a proof photo when ticking off a task | The photo is stored in reduced size on the device until you remove it. Nothing is transmitted. |
| Photos | Use an existing image from the photo library | Abhaken only sees the images you select yourself. They are read and stored on the device; nothing is transmitted. |
| Microphone (optional) | Voice memos for a task (iPhone and Android) — the recording stays on the device, see “Voice memos”. On Android additionally: dictation without opening the app — via the “Dictate to Abhaken” tile in Quick Settings or the second launcher icon, also on the lock screen | During dictation, Abhaken records nothing and stores no audio. Speech recognition is handled by the service set up on the device (usually Google's speech recognition, offline if the German language pack is downloaded; otherwise via Google's servers under Google's privacy rules). Abhaken only receives the recognised text and saves it as a task. The microphone is only active while the dictation window is open. |
| Notifications | Reminders for your tasks and the daily start | Notifications are scheduled in advance on the device. There is no push service; nothing is transmitted for notifications. |
| Location (optional) | A task alerts you when you arrive at or leave a place | The places are stored only in the app (also in the “Places” book under More, so that you can name them by voice) and in the device's region monitoring. Your location is neither stored nor transmitted. |
| Speech recognition (optional, iPhone only) | Transcribe voice memos on the device | Runs exclusively on the device; nothing is transmitted to Apple or to us. |
| Calendar (optional) | Events from your calendar appear as tasks in the “Calendar” list — so “Hey Siri, dentist tomorrow at 9” becomes a task | Abhaken reads the events of the next 30 days (title, time, location, note) and saves them as tasks on the device; it never writes to the calendar. Nothing is transmitted. You set the switch yourself under “More”. With the additional switch “Write tasks to calendar” (Pro), Abhaken creates entries for your tasks with a due date in a calendar of your choice and keeps them up to date; only entries that Abhaken created itself are touched, and they disappear again as soon as the task is ticked off or deleted, or the switch is turned off. |
| Reminders (optional, iPhone only) | Apple Reminders in both directions: every Reminders list appears as a list in Abhaken, every entry as a task — so “Hey Siri, remind me tomorrow at 9 about the dentist” or “Put homework on the to-do list” becomes a task | Apple grants access to all reminders for this. Abhaken reads lists and entries (title, note, due date, priority, completed) and saves them as tasks on the device; whatever you tick off, create, change or delete in the app is written back to Reminders. Nothing is transmitted. You set the switch yourself under “More”; when you disconnect, the Reminders lists leave the app, and everything remains with Apple. |
All permissions are only requested when you use the corresponding feature for the first time. You can revoke them at any time in your phone's settings; the app then continues to work without the feature concerned.
When you share a weekly card or a backup, you hand it over to an app of your choice (Messages, email, Files). What that app does with it is subject to its own privacy policy.
At most once a day, the app asks the respective app store whether a newer version is available. In doing so, the store learns that the app has been opened, as with every app launch. We receive nothing from this.
Only in the app from the App Store or Google Play, not in the browser.
Who: RevenueCat, Inc., USA, processes this data on our behalf (processor under Art. 28 GDPR). The transfer to the USA is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Every time the app starts, it reports to RevenueCat:
From this we can see how many people use the app and how many new users join — as numbers, without knowing who you are.
If you buy Abhaken Pro or restore a purchase, the purchase receipt is added: transaction number, product, price and currency. Payment is made via the App Store or Google Play; neither we nor RevenueCat receive payment data such as card numbers or bank details.
Not reported are your tasks, lists, photos, voice memos, the recognised text, places, calendar or Reminders entries.
Legal basis: for the purchase, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract); for the usage statistics, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in knowing whether and how much the app is used. You can object to this at any time (section 5).
Your identifier: You can find it in the app under “More → Legal → Your anonymous ID” and copy it there. Send it to kontakt@effora.digital if you would like information or want the data relating to this identifier deleted. Without the identifier, we cannot attribute any data to you.
Retention period: The data relating to your identifier remains with RevenueCat for as long as you use the app; on request, we will have it deleted.
If Abhaken is accessed in the browser at a web address, a server delivers the app's files. In doing so, the hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, time, requested file) in server logs; this data is not analysed and is deleted after a short time. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (provision of the service). Your tasks and photos remain in your device's browser there, too, and are not sent to the server.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Your tasks, photos and voice memos are held by you alone; we have nothing relating to them. For the data held by RevenueCat (section 3), send us your anonymous identifier from “More → Legal” — without it, we cannot attribute any data to you. If you have questions, write to kontakt@effora.digital.
This policy is updated when the app changes. The currently valid version can be found in the app under “More → Legal → Privacy”. If a new way in which data leaves the device is added, the app will tell you once at launch.
